How to help the GP and get the most from your appointments
- Make sure you turn up at the right surgery! Check the reminder text for the location of your appointment.
- Think about what you are going to say. The GP will want to know things like how long you have had symptoms, what have you tried already and what makes it better or worse.
- Be quick where possible please. The GP has 10 minutes to fully assess you, make a plan and write their notes with any forms required.
- Book appointments for medical issues only. You should contact the hospital directly if it is to do with your hospital appointments or care.
- If there is time we will try to sort multiple issues but do the most important ones first. You may need to come back another day if we go past 15minutes.
- Please wear a mask if you have a cough, fever or sore throat. It is not compulsory but it is to prevent the spread of infection to staff and fellow patients.
We hope you have a successful appointment. Thank you for helping the NHS be more efficient.
